Happy Belated Autumnal Equinox My Beauties,
It’s raining outside and snuggly within, could I ask for a better start to the week? No. I don’t think it’s possible. It’s Masturbation Monday, which means fiction recommendations to soothe the beleaguered soul and spice up your imagination. Give yourself a treat and don’t skimp on the passion this week. Read something that makes you tingle, then give your body and your mind some love.
Horatio Slice: Confessions of a Space Pirate by Oleander Plume. You can read an excerpt from this novel for free on Bellesa.co and then go buy the full-length novel (because I promise you, you’re going to be hooked) from Go Deeper Press, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble. Oleander Plume has an incredible imagination and traveling with Horatio through alternate dimensions is a journey you shouldn’t be afraid to take. Good smut that has a sense of humor about itself is sometimes hard to find and Oleander Plume strikes a balance of sexy and fun that is hard to beat. Also, I’m a ridiculous sci-fi/fantasy nerd and Horatio Slice checks all those boxes.
The Edinburgh Problemby Snorklepie on Archive of Our Own (AO3). This is the first story in Snorklepie’s Sherlock Holmes/John Watson (of the BBC series Sherlock) Scotland series. SPOILER ALERT, this story starts after the series 3 episode The Sign of Three, veering off before the final episode of series 3 (His Last Vow), which, as any good Johnlock fan will tell you, was bollocks and heartbreaking and now I have to go watch the series again. This is a tale of erotic romance with mystery, murder, and phenomenal OCs (original characters). It offers the kind of first time/declaration of feelings smut that gets me all goosey. Snorklepie nails the characterizations and does Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat proud. Have some snacks handy because one of the OCs bakes like an angel and this story is going to make you hungry. There are some content warnings, specifically sexual assault and attempted sexual assault. Snorklepie does a good job of letting you know if a chapter has some potential triggering content.
“A Grace and Staying” by 3_Patch_Problem_Child (aka Your own, sweet Anne Stagg) on Archive of Our Own (AO3). I’m going to start with a content warning. This is a crossover piece that takes place in the Oz (HBO series) and Law & Order: SVU (NBC) universes, so there will be rape/non-con elements to this story. This is not an eroticization of rape, it’s about healing and finding peace and love in the aftermath of a horrific experience. Each chapter that contains descriptions of sexual violence is tagged. The title was taken from the Joshua Beckman poem [Lying in bed I think about you]. I wrote this novella-length erotic romance because I wanted the characters of Tobias Beecher and Elliot Stabler to have a happy ending (pun TOTALLY intended). If you’re not familiar with the characters, that’s okay, most of the story takes place in the here and now, and I give you any of the exposition you might need. The most important thing to know, that you may not be aware of, is that the actor (Chris Meloni, a gentleman who is “Daddy please spank me” levels of yum) played Chris Keller in Oz and Elliot Stabler in Law & Order: SVU.
That’s all for this week. Venture forth to read much smutty goodness and play well with others and with yourself. Bring some kindness into the world, while you’re at it, we need every scrap of it we can get.
Be Well & Be Wonderful.
